Relationships, not programs, change lives
Our children face too many obstacles in their journeys to be grownups. Hardships like bullying, thoughts and attempts of suicide, lack of self-esteem, homelessness, untreated medical and dental issues, and being hungry are challenges kids should not have to face. But thanks to Communities In Schools, our children don’t have to tackle their realities alone because a loving and caring professional is right there with them – in our schools. Young people thrive when adults care about them as individuals and when they have a sense of belonging to a caring community.
CIS Funding
CIS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a Board of Directors. We are not a branch of the school districts, but are funded in part by contracts with school districts; and 20% of the budget comes from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The remaining funds are raised through fundraising efforts and generous individual, foundation and corporate donors. Additional funds are raised through events – Evening Under the Stars, NBU Kinderschuhe, and Pack the Bus. CIS depends on support from CIS partners and generous donors.
