Memorial Donations
Would you prefer to remember your loved one with donations rather than with flowers? Memorial donations are an everlasting tribute to loved ones, neighbors, or friends. When CIS receives a memorial donation, we will send a thank you letter from a child to the donor and to the family of the deceased. In honor of the deceased person, their name and the name of the contributors will be listed in our newsletter and on our website.
Honorariums
Honorariums can be made in the honor of an anniversary, wedding, birthday, or other special occasion of family, friends and neighbors. Honorariums are also a prestigious way for organizations to honor their Staff of the Year, an outgoing president, a retiring staff member, or anyone who has made an impact on the success of the organization. When CIS receives an honorarium, both the donor and the honoree will receive a thank you letter from a child, and both names will be listed in our newsletter and on our website.
Bequests (Leaving a Legacy)
Do you wish to leave the world a better place? Are you passionate about the youth in our community? A charitable bequest will enable you to maintain your assets during your lifetime, while providing CIS with the resources needed in future to support at-risk youth for years to come. Your bequest can be a specific dollar amount, securities or property, a percentage of your estate, or the balance of your estate after providing for your family or loved ones. When CIS receives a bequest, you will receive a thank you letter from a child, and your name will be listed in our newsletter and on our website as a CIS supporter.
Charitable Lead Trusts
A charitable lead trust enables you to transfer assets to a trust for a period of time allowing Communities In Schools of South Central Texas an income for a specific period of time. At the period’s end, the original assets return to you or to another non-charitable beneficiary. Depending on the type of charitable lead trust selected, you may choose to defer taxation on the income earned by the trust, or you may be able to receive a current tax deduction. When CIS receives a charitable lead trust, you will receive a thank you letter from a child, and your name will be listed in our newsletter and on our website as a CIS supporter.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
A charitable remainder trust provides income to your beneficiaries and allocates the remainder to CIS. You will receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction and will be exempt from paying capital gains tax while the trust pays an annual stipend to you and/or your beneficiary. After your lifetime, the remaining income and corpus of the trust is given to CIS. When CIS receives a charitable remainder trust, you will receive a thank you letter from a child, and your name will be listed in our newsletter and on our website as a CIS supporter.
